THE ORIGINAL OVAL STANDING MIRROR – 1978 – My original design for the standing mirror. This one was made from Cherry wood, it features a tripod stand with carvings of leaves; the mirror can tilt front to back and offers a full length reflection of a person that is 6′ tall. The back of the mirror frame is constructed with foam pad covered with red velvet and a woven cane layer.

After I made this one, I developed the idea of making pattern templates for the individual pieces. Using the pattern templates, I can exactly duplicate the pieces on the router table using a 3″ tall down spiral cutter with a ball bearing at the top. This method allowed me to make all the future mirrors with much greater accuracy and efficiency.
